This post is long overdue, but here goes. This is the official welcome to the InTheWack.com website. It’s still a long way from being done, but I thought I might as well put it live so people can start playing around and also leave some feedback.

My name’s Duane Storey, and I used to do a lot of blogging and technology-related activites out in Vancouver. I recently moved back to Chilliwack, and thought I would spend a bit of my time trying to improve the community here.

My day job is actually in web design and development, and most of my experience is with a framework known as WordPress. This site, even though it will eventually use various other technologies, is based on WordPress as well. What that means it that it’s super simple to publish content, and just as simple to subscribe to the content that only interests you.

For example, if you’re reading this website and are only interested in entries that related to food, simply click the “Food” link in the sidebar on your right and you’ll see only those entries. Eventually I’m hoping to have a really wide-range of writers and businesses represented on this site, such that you’ll always find up-to-date information about news and activities in this city.

Here are a few things that you can expect shortly:

Comments on all the posts — we value interaction!
Forums for buy and sell and other classifieds (free!)
Business directory of local businesses
Integration with social media (such as Facebook)

If you’re a business and would like to have a page on here (in addition to having the ability to write an entry from time to time), please contact us. The hosting is all taken care, so all you (as a business) have to do is write a post from time to time telling everyone about all your great sales or specials going on. Sounds pretty easy, doesn’t it?
