Apparently there's a Canadian Monopoly game coming soon. In order to determine the cities that will be represented in the game, there's currently a big vote going on. I can't seem to tell how Chilliwack is doing, but if you're in Chilliwack (or think it would be a cool city on the map), then head on over and vote at the official Monopoly voting site. I just got back from the friends and family event down at the new Coopers store in Garrison Crossing. The store was pretty much jam packed with friends, family, media, and a few distinguished dignitaries, including the head of Overwaitea Foods and Chilliwack's mayor, Sharon Gaetz. I've been anxiously awaiting the store for various reasons, the most important of which is that I literally live a block from the store, and will now be able to walk to get all of my groceries. I'm sure most people have heard this by now, but there was a police shooting down near the Shopper's Drug Mart near Vedder Crossing yesterday. I drove by yesterday evening and the news crews were there filming segments for the news. As I only live a few blocks from there, obviously it's a bit distressing hearing about such things. While there was violence here when I was a kid, it definitely wasn't of the magnitude that we're seeing now. For more information about the shooting, check out the CBC article about the event.
